One question I get asked a lot is....what printing company do you prefer. I can honestly say the company I use most is Shutterfly. Shutterfly is user friendly, offer many great deals, and most importantly store all your photos online free of charge!

My family loves all the great things I make with Shutterfly! Every year I make a 12x12 photo book to tell of all the fun adventures that year held. The best part is my kids love to look at pictures of themselves and carry it all over the house and I don't need to worry about it like I did with my scrapbooks. If it gets spilled on or ruined, it is saved on my Shutterfly account and I can always replace it! These books are a center piece in our living room. Guests are drawn to them and love getting a chance to see how the kids have grown over the years.

Shutterfly often has great offers. During one of their promotions on free cards, I gave them a try. I made a Father's Day card that was more beautiful than any card I could have found in a store. Daddy and the Grandfathers loved it.

Because I loved our Father's Day Cards so much, when my son's birthday came around I chose to make his Thank You cards through Shutterfly. This time I took advantage of their option to mail them to my family for me. Wow what a huge relief that was! I had no worries on addressing and mailing all the thank you cards! Plus it saves all my family's addresses so I am not scrambling for my address book. I was so excited to get the phone calls from all our friends and family saying their card arrived and how much they loved it.

This year I am excited to use Shutterfly for our family Christmas Cards and Thank you cards. We haven't decided which Christmas Card we will be using this year, but I am excited to say I have already made our Thank you cards. I use the beautiful blank card options through Shutterfly and add our family photos to them. We then can use them as thank you cards or for anything that life brings about. They are great to have on hand.

Since Christmas is right around the corner, it is time to be thinking about all those on your list. My favorite gifts to give are photo gifts! Last year my sister and I made our Grandfather a calendar with all three of his Great Grandson's photos in it. He was so proud that he brought it everywhere with him to show everyone! He is so cute! Last night I ordered my 2011 calendar from Shutterfly. I am looking forward to it arriving soon!

I can't stress enough how important it is to back up your photos. Back them up on an external hard drive but also back them up on Shutterfly. I lost all my photos from 2009 on my hard drive and all I have left are the ones that I uploaded to Shutterfly. You can even share all your photos with friends and family with Shutterfly's share sites. I created a share site for our T-ball teams two years in a row. The parents were able to share team photos with everyone and it even reminded us when game times were and who was bringing snack! From that share site I used the photos to create a photo book for the coach (my husband) and presented it to him at the end of the season.

Christmas Portraits are in full swing! I am excited that my family will be getting our own Christmas Portraits taken tonight! This year we will be creating our Christmas Cards through Shutterfly.com! Their card designs are beautiful. I also love how they will address and mail them directly to my family. We used Shutterfly cards many times this year including Father's Day cards, Birthday cards, Blank photo cards, and Thank you cards. My family loves getting a personalized card with my boys' photos on them. I can already hear the ooh's and ahh's from the Grandparents when they see this years Christmas Card!

I love being a photographer!!! I love how each season brings different experiences. November and December are mostly portraits. January is when we start thinking weddings. Wow! Where have I been you ask! LOL! It has been a long time since I have blogged! Well it is a lot of upkeep having a blog, website, facebook, myspace, and a biznik profile! I am trying to figure out which ones are worthwhile, and which ones need to go. I am no longer a member of myspace, and am trying out biznik. Facebook is fun if you can keep up with it, and now everyone is talking about twitter. My kids already beg me to get off the computer, so I need to keep a balance.

My photography has been slow since January, but my kids are keeping me plenty busy! It is a precious time of their life that won't last forever. We are doing swimming lessons, T-ball, soccer, bike rides, and skateboarding! Busy but sooo much fun!

Well we are off to soccer, then T-ball, and then Mc Donalds with the T-ball team! So I want to share some new photos, but I will have to do it later!

WOW! I haven't updated my blog in a while! So...where do I begin. I have been super busy in November with family portraits. Some friends of mine and I did a family portrait fundraiser at my church for our building project. And I have had lots of families preparing for Christmas and getting their family portraits done before Thanksgiving. I probably won't even have my own families done until Christmas Eve! I still have to figure out what to wear! If I get time after the holidays, I might publish some families pictures.

My most EXCITING news is.........are you ready for it...........I went to the New Kids on the Block concert! YEEAAHH!!!! It was pretty much the most amazing thing EVER!!!!!! If you know me at all you know that I am (and have been since the second grade) a HUGE New Kids fan! I had sooo much fun, and I screamed so much that my throat still hurts!!!! I had to buy a new iphone (for many reasons) but most importantly to take pictures at the NKOTB concert, since the tickets said "no cameras." So I know the pictures are not Shutterstar quality, but they will help me remember this "dream come true" night.

When capturing this prince charming moment, another dream-like photo opportunity happened. Unfortunately my flash wasn't ready for this perfect picture.

Which created a picture that was far too dark. With a little photoshop work, I was able to salvage this moment by creating this dreamy photo. I love it!

Wow! I haven't published a new post in a while! I have been crazy busy! Lots of stuff going on! I am working on a website that will be www.shutterstarphotography.com when I am finished. I sold almost all my school stuff and am cleaning out the whole downstairs for my brother-in-law to move in. I received my new soft boxes and am now saving for my lights. We celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary. And we have been camping every time we have a free weekend. I love summer! Even if life is a little crazy!

I had the honor of shooting Katie and Jordan's wedding last Saturday. I will have the pictures uploaded for friends and family to view by June 30th, but I wanted to share a sneak peak of my favorites now. Katie and Jordan are good friends of ours, so we were privileged that they asked our boys to be their ring bearers and me to be the photographer. Katie, you looked so beautiful! Jordan, even though you wanted to take my camera and hit me with it, I know you still love me. I am so glad Katie found you, I know that you will love her and take care of her better than anyone. I also want to say a big thank you to my husband! It was a lot of work to drive us to the wedding, help me set up, get the boys dressed, assist with pictures, and take care of our two boys with no naps. He is so great! For memorial day weekend, we went camping at Ocean Shores. When I was a teenager and I was babysitting, I saw their family pictures at the ocean, and I said I want to do that when I have my own family. So ever since I have had this dream of the perfect family pictures at the beach. So I bought a white dress and adorable clothes for the boys. Waiting for the opportunity to go to the ocean. So when we decided to go camping there I packed up our picture perfect clothes and my tripod and remote.

When we arrived it was sunset, so we decided to take the pictures the next day. (We got some amazing sunset pictures in the mean time, I will include those later) We were outside for about 15-20 minutes and when I got back to the van I saw my reflection, I realized family photos will have to wait until another trip. My hair was so wavy, frizzy, and tangled and I forgot my flat iron and brush. luckily I found a hair tie in my van to tame the mess!

We got some great pictures of the boys though!

My 4 year old photographer took this picture of us! Isn't he good! I love that he has an interest in photography. He doesn't say he wants to be a photographer...he says he is a photographer.

On Friday May 16th we had a great sunny day. I only had 4 students that day and so after work time, we went on a walk. I should have a picture of me! I was pushing a double stroller with two girls in it and pulling a wagon with my two boys. We walked to the church and then to the park. The moms met me there for lunch, along another friend of ours and her two kids. And when we got there we were excited to see another friend of ours there with three of her kids. It was great! A total of 10 kids! I brought along our parachute and beach ball, they had so much fun for about a minute then were on to the next toy!

Last Thursday was such a wonderful day! I had an awesome opportunity to meet with another local photographer, one I admire sooo much! Julie Watts! She is an amazing photographer, and so sweet! Check out her blog www.juliewattsphoto.blogspot.com

I was honored when she invited me to her photo studio. She showed me around, taught me a lot, and even took some shots of me and my camera. This is a picture that I took when she was teaching me about my flash. THANK YOU JULIE!!!

Later that day I got to have a girls night with my good friend Lindsay, who is also a photographer. We went to Point Defiance Park and took pictures of each other. We both had fun being behind the camera, but it felt weird to be on the other side of the lens.

As soon as we saw the sun was setting and the beautiful light it was creating in the distance, we jumped in the car and chased the sun to find a perfect sunset location.

When we lost all our daylight, we went out to dinner. We ate pizza and talked and finally made it home by midnight. What a FUN day!

Wow! I am learning sooooo much! When I was in high school, I thought it was a lame excuse for adults to be computer illiterate. Now it is ME who feels computer illiterate! I love my new Mac though! It makes things a lot easier! I will never go back to the PC world!

I am working on building my business. I am officially not continuing my school next year. So Photography will be my only business to pursue. I am changing a lot....for the better. My clients will now be able to view their photos, while I take them in the studio. Then schedule another appointment to view a slide show of their finished photos, and recieve a password to order their photos online. This is an awesome way to give your families opportunities to purchase their own prints and for you to have plenty of time to decide what prints you want. I will still be offering high resolution digital files, but instead of burning CDs I will post your photos on a password protected photo gallery for you to download. I am really excited!
